IN MY CLOSET episode Two (2)

by Comfort Ogunfalu(comfyflex)
       “His meeting can wait till when I am done with him but this hour is the best time to see him.” She said confidently

    “Madam I’m sorry, but you can’t see him now and besides, you haven’t booked an appoint___”

    Susan yelled angrily at the secretary   “Hey you!!! When I say now, I mean now!!!”

    The polite manner of the secretary didn’t do anything to calm her nerves and she vented anger on the innocent young lady in front of her with full on glare.

    Startled at the drama that has played out in front of her as few people in the lobby waited to know what has happened.

    She thought to herself”𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯, 𝘪𝘧 𝘪 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩”

She quivered with a move for the land line to put a call through to the CEO’s office when Susan made her way to Frank’s office but her actions to stop her proved futile.

    “Oh no! Not now! I might be in deep trouble” she rolled her eyes exasperated, her face distorted.

She proceeded the dial to the boss office to give a quick-time saving heads up because the lady seems trouble. It rang twice before it was picked….

    ============

    …Frank moved around the furnished broad mahogany desk to pick the land line.   “yes?…” He chided

    Carolyn, the secretary explained what has just transpired down at the lobby and what the impending doom is.

    “Don’t fuss, I will handle things well here. Don’t stop her. Next time when you see her, give me heads up right?”. He dictated and dropped the receiver with a puffy sigh.

    “Yes sir”  She grumbled into the silent receiver. Her face sporting a wearing smile, she handed the phone back into its cradle and slouched into her seat.

    ============

    Susan got inside, scowled immediately her eyes settled on Frank who was standing at the other end of his office desk picking up some files that would be needed for his meeting.

    “Suzzy baby, what’s up? You are so lucky to meet me in the office, that’s one of the reasons I ask you not to always call up at my office unexpectedly because I’m always occupied.

“You wouldn’t even have met me a minute later than now”

Frank rambled without looking up as he picked his way from his desk to his cabinets where files for meeting are always stored.

The room fell into a tensed silence as if he was alone in the office. He glanced up bothered, raised a perfect brow at Susan for not saying a word since he had been talking but dropped the files  he was holding when Susan’s expression gave a serious warning

    “You only come to me with this face when there’s a problem that involves me, what now, Susan?” He prodded.

    He pushed out his upper body on his angled arms resting on his desk,  his face a bit pushed out.
    Susan moved away from behind the door she has been standing since she came into the office to stand behind the two seats before the desk…

    A knock came on, keeping her mouth shut. Frank called in the visitor behind the door but the person happened to be the secretary who came in to hand over the important key note drafts for the meeting that Frank had earlier told her to go through.

    After passing it over to him, without allowing her to say one word, all in a bid to dismiss her, he waved her off telling her to move ahead to the board room that he would be in shortly. The gesture gave the secretary a clear message that her boss was in the middle of a crisis that required all his attention, so she hurried out without a further hesitation or sideways glance.
